Sewing Daisies: Danish Star

The strangest thing happened to me the other day…

No, I wasn’t visited by aliens

(again)

It was weirder than that.

I couldn’t get my act together.

  Sewing Daisies: Danish Star

I didn’t want to sew.

I didn’t want to crochet

and

I really didn’t want to write a blog post.

(weird right?)

Sewing Daisies: Danish Star

No, I wanted to sit by the window,

stare out

and

twiddle my thumbs.

Which I did until I realised that my

 twiddling

could be put to better use.

I could make some Danish Paper Stars.

Sewing Daisies: Danish Star

Fabuloso!

I would still be sitting by the window,

enjoying the bird song,

the dogs rustling in the leaves

and

the kid pretending to be a fire engine.

PLUS

I would be brushing up on some very dusty skills.

Danish Paper Stars

also known as Froebel, Swedish & German stars

are

traditionally made at Christmas.

(for fun)

They are either made using paper strips, or ribbon.

I used a magazine cover.

(It was the closet thing to hand)

  Sewing Daisies: Danish Star

 It always

amazes me

how easy these stars are to make.

They look complicated with their

double sticky pokey up things

but really they are child’s play.

Fancy having a go?

Okay now you’ve really stolen my heart! How pretty these are with the “double-sticky-pokey-up-things” as you say!

I know those days when you just need to sit and stare for a bit! Your paper stars are great and yet another thing from you I want to try. Thanks for the link 🙂 Josie
