The SEW Hip! Butterfly Quilt (issue 11) is going to be my next project…

I am finally going to bite the bullet and have a go at Appliqué work. I will be honest now and tell you that I am not a fan of appliqué.

In the right hands appliqué looks great, but I don't have the right hands nor do I have the right attitude towards it. I have an abnormally high intolerance for all things twee and I know I will end up turning my project into a kindergarden delight.

BUT

where is the challenge in doing only the things you like…so I plan to make this quilt and I hope the Twee Mill is closed when I do.

  1. I’m sure it will be beautiful in the end… Your hands can’t make anything else. What is “twee”? This is not an expression that is familiar to my Canadian ears.

  2. ahh ‘twee’…a tricky word to nail down but here goes;
    Over the top, affected, sugary, quaint and pretentious all rolled into one. It’s rarely used as a compliment 🙂
