SEW Hip! Balloon Ride (issue 5) is my penultimate SEW Hip project and it is done…
I mentioned last week…
that the challenge in this project was not in the making of the purse
but in creating the purse template.
I was half right.
I think I also mentioned last week that I am averse to reading instructions.
I was totally right.
I didn't read a single instruction for the SEW Hip! Balloon Ride Purse…
which is why I was only half right
about where the challenge in this project lay.
As you can probably guess…
I decided that I would make my purse template by following the diagrams only.
A great idea perhaps if you have made a template before.
Before you think it was a massive train wreck
it wasn't…
I just miscalculated the top section of
the purse (where it sits under purse frame)
AND
only by a few millimeters!
After a bit of stretching, addition of 'Divine Twine' and some ingenious glueing…
I managed to get the purse frame on
(minus huge gap on one side).
I made my very own SEW Hip! Balloon Ride
template thingy & purse.
Easy Peasy!!!

it’s always better with little adventure along the way anyway. and it turned out beautifully in the end! i love it!
I’ve never ever made a template for my purses … when I’m following a pattern I sometimes have those issues too (says a lot about the accuracy of my sewing, but I’m choosing to ignore that!). Love your end result!
Cute purse and the more challenges you overcome the less you should be concerned about sewing garments.
Thank you guys for your constant support, I really appreciate it! Just one more SEw Hip! to go and then a little break over the holidays 🙂
