SEW Hip! Mystery Quilt

SEW Hip! Mystery Quilt (issue 29) is heaven sent…

I was only thinking

the other day I should make another quilt.

(It’s been cold here in Sydney).

So you can imagine how impressed I was to find a new

‘Mystery Quilt’

in my latest copy of SEW Hip!

 (move over Miss Marple)

SEW Hip! Mystery Quilt

For this Mystery quilt,

SEW Hip asked their favourite designers to come up with

leaf inspired quilt blocks.

A perfect theme

for the current season ‘down under’

I likey!

To make this Mystery Quilt even more

challenging for me…

I have decided

not to buy new materials or products;

I am going to try to use what I have.

 Penny pinching?

No,  I just like the idea of making do with what I have.

 Which should make things interesting…

as the third leaf quilt block requires something called

to make the leaf.

Anyway, expect to see my version of the

Red Oak Leaf soon.

  1. oh i just read you are in australia I have been trying to find the sew hip mag where do you get it from

  2. Oooooo your Sew Hip is out before mine this time. If you make the blocks I’ll do it here. I’ve tried to make a quilt several times and struggled, so I’ll shout for help if I get stuck. Deal?

  3. Can’t wait to see your version and yes it is very suitable for our weather here at the moment, but then those leaves may get blown away today:)

  4. Hey there Jessica!
I used to get my copies from the newsagents Humphreys in Manly (NSW) but after I started my set Sew Hip Challenge last year, I had to subscribe directly with SEW Hip to make sure I got issues on time.
Humphreys staff are really helpful, so if you email them or phone them they may be able to set you issues aside and possibly arrange to have them sent to you.

  5. I’m getting frustrated in not being able to find this issue yet in the states! I have been checking the shop that normally carries it every day for the last week!
I did the first mystery quilt in 2009 that was published over several issues.
Oh, BTW, take a look at the letters page in issue 29. See the photo of the beautiful baby with the pink pig? That is my granddaughter! (And I am desperate to get my hands on the issue just for that picture. I need to get 3 in all, one for my DD and one for her MIL).

  6. Hey there Sandra,
I have just checked out your granddaughter, she is adorablle!!!
re: magazine, I get mine sent direct so they probably ship them out first. I should imagine your shop will get copies soom 🙂
