The Newsprint Series: Vintage Candles
Today is
the third edition of The Newsprint Series.
I am pleased as punch.
Not only have I got something cool to show off today,
I can now officially add a Newsprint category
to my blogpost thingy majigy panal.
Cue Michael Flatly and his
'Feet of Flames'
Go Mickey boy!
There is an
air of smugness about you today …
I know I should be offended,
but I am rather pleased with myself…
last week I bought something cool!
(fnarr, fnarr)
you do like to shop…
Who doesn't?!
But that isn't really
why I have 'Eau de Smugness' on today.
With my new something cool,
I have created awesomeness;
Vintage Candles!
(That's the Eau de Smugness again)
I thought this was a newsprint series;
How does making candles fit in, & don't you find
candle-making dull ?
Yes and Yes.
Let me clarify,
the project is called Vintage Candles, but I haven't actually
made any candles;
I customised some I bought from Ikea.
(white Fenomen– 5 pack)
I see…
And before you ask, after 'Tarted up Ikea Candles'
vintage was the best I could think of.
You don't surprise me.
Have these candles anything to with
those old Australian Women's Weekly magazines
you have been coveting all week?
By jingo you are good!
GREAT!
I loved those corset adverts last week…
Weren't they great?!
This week is however, corset free.
I have found other treasures to show off.
(yes, yes)
Tell me more!
How about I just show you?
Tadah!!!!
My very own
Australian Women's Weekly
Vintage Candles.

How cool these are, and just the perfect amount of tart, too. 🙂
These are great! How did you apply the fabric to the candle? Would love to make one for my living room!
Hey there Paula,
Thank you for stopping by Sewing Daisies…
I used Decals for the candles which in this case are sheets of plastic.
I simply ran them through the photocopier to get the image on (left to dry) and then popped the sheets into a shallow dish of water for a minute and then gently slid the printed plastic off it’s paper backing onto my candles.
It’s incredibly simple to do, but the outcome is spectacular.
I might still have the photos of the process somewhere..I will try and pop them up for you to see.
xh
Tart or not to Tart…always a conundrum for the discerning crafter.
