Jul.Christmas.Noel (series)
is my attempt at readying myself for Christmas.
Yes, I know it’s only October,
but the heat has turned up (it was 34c the other day!)
& if I am not careful I will clean forget about
Christmas (again).
So I am trialling some Christmas ideas.
This little gem of an idea,
was inspired by a candle display in one of my
(German) Scandinavian Christmas books.
Wunderbar!
Not only is it Quick & Easy to make,
it’s pretty to boot.
So pretty in fact,
it would make a wonderful display any time
of the year.
To make you need:
- Three or five little muffin/cake tins
- Bag of rock salt or sugar
- Candles
- Lighter or matches.
To assemble:
a) Warm the end of your candle (using your lighter),
until a few drops of wax fall into the center of your cake tin.
b) Press your candles into the melted wax before it cools.
c) Fill your cake tin with rock salt.
d) Repeat!
N.B Mix some smaller pieces of rock salt in with the larger ones,
to fill any gaps.
There you have it,
Rock Salt Candles.
A glittery candles display, perfect for Christmas or tea parties!
If you were wondering about the tablemat in the photos…
it’s an Ikea Sickan Tea Towel.
It works well with the Ikea Jubla candles,
doesn’t it?

Love the idea, but to me this looks more like a baby-shower theme than that good old-fashioned Christmas spirit… Pink, cupcakes and sparkles? It’s definitely a girl!
That is a beautiful idea Bobonne, I might try that idea out fro some photos!

I’ve heard salt can be good if combined with candles. How is it so?
Thanks!
