Granny Square:
an Oldie, but a Goodie.
Crochet came into my life because I love yarn,
but can't knit.
Of the blankets I have made in the past few years, I haven't crocheted a
'traditional' Granny Square blanket.
You know the ones,
they use a basic Granny design, Mid-Century colours
with a good smattering of black.
They feature heavily in Home & Design magazines.
Well, I have finally made mine.
Grannys a go!
Measuring 81 x 180c, it's a small blanket.
No matter. For the occasional nap (or a childs bed)
it is perfect!
More importantly however, I can now claim to be on-trend.
I expect I will be featured in the next edition of
'Country Living'.
(I wish!)
With my gorgeous
Granny Square Blanket carefully arranged on my sofa,
I can happily move onto my next project.
What to make?
Doily?
Leg warmers?
Scarf?
Cup warmers?
Shawl?
Hat?
Blanket?
So many choices.

I have never made a granny blanket…or a ripple…I have made several single colour ones…but they all seem to have left home for some reason…I have one left…maybe it would like a companion!!!
Yours is very very granny…well done and very traditional…just as it should be… a granny indeed.
🙂
Thank you M for your lovely feedback.
I feel that your blanket definitely needs a companion. My Granny Blanket is snuggling up next to another blanket I made last year. They look so cosy together 🙂
Absolutely love your “Granny” squares, thank you for sharing … would itbe cheeky to ask if you could share the pattern you used and perhaps the yarn, which looks so rich and weighty …?
Thanks again
