Jul.Christmas.Noel - Eleven Days

Eleven days

Is a little distraction I made the other day.

The closer we get to Christmas,

the Quicker & Easier my projects are getting.

Well, most of them.

My Christmas wreath won’t be

Quick & Easy.

Which is probably why I have been avoiding it, preferring

to mess about in the kitchen.

And, a mess it has been.

 A real mess.

Because, Chrummertime has ARRIVED.

For the uninitiated,

Chrummertime is my term for

Christmas & Summer combined.

it also refers to the arrival of

the heat, bucketloads of humidity and mozzies.

It’s the heat & humidity

that has been causing havoc in my kitchen.

Heat inside the oven – great!

Outside, VERY frustrating.

I could be wrong, but I

don’t think you are supposed to bake in heat.

Well, not in 32c, anyway.

And I wasn’t the only one unhappy with the heat.

My cookies rioted all over my baking sheet.

Self baking, infighting,

and not keeping their cookie cutter shapes;

they were all over the place.

To distract myself

from the horrors going on in my kitchen and oven,

I decided to make something

(between oven runs).

A candle holder.

Chrummertime messes with your math skills.

Eleven Days was actually

meant to be Twelve Days.

I just couldn’t get the measurement right.

I tried. I really did.

I don’t think running back to the oven every 6 minutes

helped much either.

Jul.Christmas.Noel - Eleven Days

I am pretty nifty with a drill.

Between the 5 cookie baking sessions,

I managed to saw,

measure up (badly), drill

and paint my Eleven Days

candle holder.

I may not ‘do’ numbers, but

I know how to make the best of a bad situation.

read a calendar.

There’s only 11 more days

until Christmas.

the cookies might look dreadful,

but they taste great!

I just can’t get my head round Christmas in summer!! It’s 32F (that’s 0C – and warm compared to the last week) here and snowing. I quite like the idea of 32C!!

I would love to have snow for Christmas. Fancy a house swap next year?

tell me about it, I have been looking for months and none of the candle stores have any.
However, my local card & paper store has them.
