Jul.Christmas.Noel
not a creature was stirring.
This is my last candle display project
for 2013, and it’s my favourite.
I got to use power tools!
Well, the drill at least.
After hand sawing two houses
I was persuaded to let my neighbour finish the rest.
He has a circular saw.
To make your own
set of tenement cheer all you need is
wood, paint
(& brush)
candles, saw
and
drill.
re: wood
Any old planks of wood will do.
My largest wood house
measures 7 x 7 x 8 cm and the smallest 4 x 4 x 5.5 cm
Nothing too big
as you can see.
To drill my candle holes, I used a 10mm drill bit.
With the sawing & drilling is out of the way,
all there’s left to do is the
painting & decorating.
To paint my houses,
I used black Chalkboard paint.
It’s surprising fast drying.
By the time you
have finished painting your last house
(I made nine in total).
The first house is ready for it’s second coat.
To decorate,
I chalked up a window or two.
(keeps things simple)
When they are all lined and lit up, they look
wonderful.
I could easily reference
“It’s a wonderful life”
but
I have already gone down
Clement Clarke Moore’s street.
